I Hope They Call Me on a Mission

Credit to Deseret Book for the fantastic recording of this piece by the very talented Capitol String Quartet!  Also, a great video by the wonderful violist (and my cousin-in-law) Jenny Lewis.  If you haven’t gotten a copy of their CD, get it at Deseret Book: http://deseretbook.com/Walk-Beside-Me-Capitol-String-Quartet/i/5121249

Some thoughts about the inspiration for this piece: That prospective missionary is getting closer and closer to his/her mission age.  What’s going on in their head?  “Where in the world am I going?  It could be anywhere!”  He/She begins to think of tropical climes, coconut trees, sandy beaches, friendly natives (who are, of course, modestly-clad), exotic fruits and other foods from the garden of Eden that just happened to survive the fall in this remote paradise.  They are nothing but optimistic.  This mission-thing is going to be great!
